Inside the Insider: Return of the Bloodline

vampire_hunter_d_fanartVampire Hunter D is now playable in your 4e games!  Yes the dhampyr, a half-humanoid/half-vampire hybrid, now has 4e rules.  Bloodline feats, one of the potentially coolest set of feats from 3.5, have made a return as well.  If you want to play as a half-vampire, all you have to do is acquire the Vampiric Heritage bloodline feat to open up the ability to acquire other feats, which will in turn load you up with cool vampiric powers and abilities.

Your campaign can now be littered with cute little half-vampires of all sorts.  Imagine the combinations! Actually, I have done just that:

  • Drow dhampyr ranger – Drizz’t, come over here so I can drain your life essence.  Thanks!
  • Goblin dhampyr rogue – My precious….
  • Human dhampyr wizard -why yes, I am a blood mage…what tipped you off?  Oh, these? <flicks fangs> Just…props, I promise. I wouldn’t actually drain your blood to fuel my spells or anything.  What’s that over there? <bite>
  • Minotaur dhampyr  fighter (battlerager) -just a big bundle of bad-ass.
  • Human dhampyr paladin -blood for the blood god! Err…Tempus?
  • Tiefling dhampyr warlock (infernal) – It’s a stack of fiery, bloodsucking evil.  Burn and bite.
  • Half-elf dhampyr bard -it’s zen… one with (and one of) everything. Half-human, half-elf, half vampire, half a-little-bit-of other-classes.
  • Halfling dhampyr barbarian – the Wee Folk are so cuuuuute!  Look at this little guy right here! How ya doing? <pats head> Such a cute little ARRGHGHRGHHRG! (Don’t worry, it’s only a flesh wound)
  • Human dhampyr swordmage -if you are going to do Vampire Hunter D, this is your classic combination.
  • Genasi dhampyr cleric -I don’t know how this happened, but I’m going to pray to the gods to understand how it did.
