I realize its been some time since you posted this, but what about the PCs are charged with determing if a given NPC is a spy for an evil empire/ country or not. Since the PCs are not the police, and do not have any special status in the city of interest, how do they set about investigating someone effectively and without the suspected spy's knowledge?

I would love to see a challenge based on gathering information on an "Artifact" using libraries, shady characters spread throughout the region, other contacts, etc...I guess the wrinkle for me would be involving the PC's that have no real skill set for this such as the Wild raised Half-elf warlock and the slightly touched dwarf fighter that is more bristly then sneaky and neither is very personable.

Is this too specific?

I love the work you're doing with these skill challenges. First a request, then a question.

Could you do one where the players are acting a security for a noble person giving a public address and there is an assassination plot afoot? The players need to use their skills and possibly combat to protect the noble.

Also a question, do you give the players the skill challenge you have written up ahead of time so they have an idea of what to use, or do you make them come up which skills to use and the examples you give in your skill challenge are simply guesses as to what they may do. I'm just curious how you handle them.
