Let’s forgo discussion of the wondrous circle of life. Oh, I’ve heard it’s great. I’ll engage it sometime and wheel around like an animated lion with cute animal companions at a later date.
What I care about, dear readers, is the circle of geek. Stupid Ranger leads us on a songless-yet-still-compelling trip on the journey of a geek.
I’ve been through all of these phases, usually with with different games as my expression point.
D&D was the Introduction and Monty Haul.
Cyberpunk was Hardcore. Night City’s trashmen became rich cleaning all the cybernetic debris.
World of Darkness lead the way into Realistic. After a number of systems and campaigns, eventually I came home…
back to D&D. 3.5 then 4th. I still play other systems of course, but over the course of a gaming career you do tend to realize that it’s only game. Then the real fun can begin.
